MenuTrinfo® Introduces a Map of Colleges and Universities that are AllerTrained™

Fort Collins, CO  (Restaurant News Release)  An invaluable reference for parents and college-bound students with food allergies is just a few clicks away. MenuTrinfo® has developed an interactive map on its website (www.menutrinfo.com) of the United States highlighting all the higher educational facilities they have trained. Each state boasts a list of colleges and universities that have staff who have taken and successfully completed allergen safety and gluten-free classes. The map is a great starting place for food allergy sufferers and their families to use when making that all-important decision about which college or university to seriously consider.

The institutions have been appreciative of the knowledge AllerTrain U™ brings to their facilities and the resulting ability to help food allergic students. Kristina DiSanto, a Registered Dietitian at Liberty University in Virginia stated, “Recently, myself and many members of our staff had the opportunity to take advantage of the AllerTrain U™ training. We already have an allergen-free station at our school, but this training really stressed how important being conscientious of allergens at all areas of dining is for our students and staff. Because of the training, we are now in the process of putting more detailed signage at our retail outlets, and looking for other weak spots in our chain that need to be reworked. Giving myself, our managers, and chefs more knowledge in this area will only help in terms of caution and awareness when it comes to allergies. I’m very happy that our management realizes the importance of this issue and is willing to take the necessary steps to make sure our team is educated.”

The training consists of a variety of food allergen and gluten-free safety classes under the AllerTrain™ Suite of Courses umbrella. The classes are designed specifically for the independent educational dining environment new students will need to traverse when embarking on that special time of life. Serious consequences can result, including a potentially life-threatening reaction known as anaphalaxis, if these students with special dietary needs are misinformed about what they are consuming.

“MenuTrinfo® understands and respects the busy schedules of food service employees, providing classes through webinars, with on-site Master Trainers throughout the country, as well as, on-demand course offerings for select programs,” says Betsy Craig, CEO at MenuTrinfo®.

In keeping with the idea one size does NOT fit all – the following are some of the courses provided specifically for educational institutions:

  • AllerTrain U™ – College dining management
  • AllerTrain Lite™ – Hourly workers
  • AllerTrain Mini™ – Non-food handler
  • AllerTrain RA™ – Resident Advisor
  • AllerChef™ – Chefs
