Summer Arrives Early With St. Louis Style BBQ Ribs & Chicken Meal At Boston Market

Summer Arrives Early With St. Louis Style BBQ Ribs & Chicken Meal At Boston Market

Unusually warm spring brings favorite picnic food pairing to menu

Summer Arrives Early With St. Louis Style BBQ Ribs & Chicken Meal At Boston MarketGolden, CO  (Restaurant News Release)  After the warmest March on record and with outdoor activities just around the corner, Boston Market® is giving guests an early taste of their favorite seasonal dishes. The restaurant chain is offering its BBQ Ribs & Chicken meal, served with two sides and fresh cornbread, for $12.99*. The experts on home style cooking have mastered the slow roasting of St. Louis style ribs, which are slathered in a sweet, peppery barbecue sauce.

“The time it takes to prepare great tasting ribs is the main reason that people don’t enjoy them more often, so we’re happy to make it as easy as a visit to a Boston Market restaurant,” said Boston Market CEO George Michel, also known as The Big Chicken.

Michel was referencing a finding from a new, national survey on ribs commissioned by Boston Market. The survey also found that rib lovers prefer the pairing of ribs and chicken (54%) two to one over ribs and pulled pork (21%) and ribs and grilled burgers (21%).

First offered in 2013, the BBQ Ribs menu item has become a guest favorite at Boston Market, especially when paired with the signature Rotisserie Chicken.

“We’re delighted to offer two summertime favorites – ribs and rotisserie chicken – side by side at such a great value,” said Michel.

Boston Market’s St. Louis style seasoned ribs are slow-roasted and exceptionally meaty. The brand found that a ¼ rack of the St. Louis variety yielded almost 2 ounces more meat than a ½ rack of baby back ribs from other fast casual competitors.

And what sides will be requested most often to complete the ribs and chicken meal? Ribs lovers say that sweet corn (34%) and mac & cheese (20%) are their top choices, according to the survey.

Along with every other item on the Boston Market menu, the BBQ Ribs & Chicken meal is real food that’s carefully prepared, affordable and without compromise. It’s all part of the restaurant’s promise to deliver an experience that is all good.

Boston Market Reports Nearly 100 Percent Increase In Thanksgiving Sales Over The Past Five Years

Boston Market Reports Nearly 100 Percent Increase In Thanksgiving Sales Over The Past Five Years

Popular fast casual restaurant chain is offering a complete Holiday Heat & Serve Meal for 12 for $109.99

Nearly all Boston Market restaurants will be open on Thanksgiving Day

Boston Market Reports Nearly 100 Percent Increase In Thanksgiving Sales Over The Past Five YearsGolden, CO  (Restaurant News ReleaseBoston Market announced it has achieved a nearly 100 percent increase in Thanksgiving sales over the past five years*.

“People today are busier than ever, and when faced with time limitations during the holidays, many would rather spend their time enjoying friends and families, than spending hours cooking and cleaning in the kitchen,” said George Michel, CEO of Boston Market. “Our mission is to take the stress out of the holidays by providing quality holiday meals that taste homemade – all for a great price.”

According to an annual holiday survey from Boston Market, the trend of using prepared foods in Thanksgiving meals continues to increase – with nearly half of all consumers planning to use prepared foods this holiday season.

The survey also found that while 86 percent of consumers enjoy the overall meal experience, the two greatest pain points are shopping for the meal and cleaning up afterward.

“Recently the Department of Commerce released new data showing that this year, for the first time, Americans are spending more money dining out than on buying groceries,” said Michel. “Over the past five years, we’ve gained consumer’s trust by providing a variety of innovative holiday meal options at prices people can feel good about.”

All 453 Boston Market restaurants nationwide, excluding its food court locations, will be open on Thanksgiving Day (hours vary by location) and will offer guests a variety of holiday meal options, including:

  • Heat & Serve Holiday Meals: Meals for 4 to 12, turkey or ham. The Holiday Experts® at Boston Market will handle all the cooking and seasoning. Guests can purchase a whole roasted turkey meal for 12 – including one whole turkey, spinach artichoke dip, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry walnut relish, vegetable stuffing, dinner rolls and two whole pies for only $109.99.
  • Thanksgiving Day Meal: For those who plan to dine out or who need last-minute side items, Boston Market offers holiday favorites like the Thanksgiving Day Meal, which features roasted turkey breast or chicken with two home style sides, fresh baked cornbread and a slice of apple or pumpkin pie.
  • Hot & Ready Catered Buffets: Whether you need a holiday meal for the family or office, Boston Market will take care of every detail and even deliver the feast.
  • A la Carte: If you need more mashed potatoes, burn the pumpkin pie or are simply pressed for time in the kitchen, Boston Market has all the sides and desserts you need for a stress-free holiday.

To help with last minute planning, The Holiday Experts® will accept Heat & Serve and catering orders for Thanksgiving Day until 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 25. In addition to online ordering via www.bostonmarket.com, orders can also be placed by calling 866-977-9090.

Boston Market Brings Soldiers A Taste Of Home

Boston Market Brings Soldiers A Taste Of Home

New Restaurant at Fort Jackson Marks the Company’s Third Military Base Opening

Boston Market Brings Soldiers A Taste Of HomeGolden, CO  (Restaurant News Release)  When our nation’s soldiers leave home to serve their country, it’s hard to say goodbye to time spent with family and friends over warm, home style-cooked meals. In an effort to bring a taste of home to our service members, Boston Market has teamed up with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (Exchange) to open restaurants on military bases across the country.

This month, the Exchange opened a Boston Market restaurant at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, its third on a military installation. Fort Jackson is the largest and most active Initial Entry Training Center in the U.S. Army, training more than 45,000 soldiers every year. The new Fort Jackson restaurant is located at 4110 Moseby St. in Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

The restaurant opening at Fort Jackson is part of a new expansion effort for Boston Market. Last year, the company signed an agreement with the Exchange to open Boston Market restaurants on military bases, including Fort Meade in Maryland and Fort Bliss in Texas, both of which opened last fall. Additional restaurants are planned for the remainder of 2015.

“We’ve had four great years of same-restaurant sales increases, and we’re growing again, so expanding is a key pillar for success,” said George Michel, CEO of Boston Market (a.k.a. “The Big Chicken”). “We make it a priority to support service members and their families, and we’re glad we can bring a taste of home to soldiers, one meal at a time.”

Beyond taking restaurants to military installations, Boston Market is also recruiting former service members to join its ranks. In particular, Boston Market is collaborating with military placement and transition offices and utilizing military and veteran job posting boards to attract prospective candidates.

In addition to the military base locations opened by the Exchange, Boston Market plans to open six company-owned restaurants this year in areas like New York and Florida. Boston Market is on a mission to deliver an experience to customers that is “All Good”. Launched last month, the “All Good” campaign is about highlighting in a bold way what sets Boston Market apart – great food, great service and great people.

Golden, CO  (Restaurant News Release)  You might want to quiz Grandma this Thanksgiving about those “secret family recipe” mashed potatoes. A new survey conducted by Boston Market finds that not only will almost half of this year’s holiday hosts use prepared foods as part of their Thanksgiving meal, but almost one-third would also have no problem taking credit for a dish their guests liked.

Overall, survey results pointed to friends, family and food as the most important elements of Thanksgiving – with a strong focus on tradition, not nutrition. Consumers are even more willing than last year to spend on quality food for their guests– with expected budget rising from $133.07 in 2013 to $146.01 in 2014. Sixty-two percent of people believe the meal is the most important aspect of the holiday, and even more (64 percent) do not give much thought to the nutritional implications of what they eat on Thanksgiving.

Although serving traditional, comforting Thanksgiving dishes is considered a requirement, people are choosing time with guests over time in the kitchen, with more than half of all respondents saying they trust prepared foods from restaurants enough to serve them on their Thanksgiving table. The majority of hosts (60 percent) are also at least somewhat open to trying new Thanksgiving recipes based on current food trends.

Boston Market offers solutions for guests who like to supplement their own cooking with a few prepared sides or for those who would rather avoid the kitchen entirely. Restaurant locations will open for part of Thanksgiving Day and close early so that employees can make it home for their own celebrations.

The holiday season is the busiest time of year for the fast-casual restaurant, which served more than 1 million customers at its 460 locations last Thanksgiving Day alone. Boston Market has long-established holiday chops – last year, the company served more than 41,000 whole turkeys, nearly 3 million pounds of mashed potatoes and more than 13 million pieces of cornbread in November and December.

“So many Thanksgiving memories take place around the dinner table, and it’s important to us that our guests be able to share familiar, home style dishes with friends and family – without missing all the special moments because they’re stuck in the kitchen,” said George Michel, CEO of Boston Market (a.k.a. “The Big Chicken”). “At Boston Market, we serve holiday staples every day, so our guests can trust us to be a part of their special meal.”

Boston Market Enters ‘Burger Wars’ with New BLT Rotisserie Chicken Burger

Boston Market Enters 'Burger Wars' with New BLT Rotisserie Chicken Burger

Signature Rotisserie Chicken Creates a Better-Tasting Burger Done the Boston Market Way

Boston Market Enters 'Burger Wars' with New BLT Rotisserie Chicken BurgerGolden, CO  (Restaurant News Release)  As the “better burger” competition heats up, Boston Market is entering the fray… but with a signature twist. The fast-casual restaurant chain, known for its rotisserie chicken, today announced the launch of its BLT Rotisserie Chicken Burger, a limited time offering available in all of its 459 restaurants beginning today through August 24.

The BLT Rotisserie Chicken Burger features the chain’s signature rotisserie chicken, thick cut Applewood bacon, lettuce, tomato and its special roasted garlic avocado aioli on a sesame brioche bun. The burger is offered individually for $6.99 and is available as a combo for an additional $2.49. A version without bacon is available for $6.49. Boston Market VIP club members will also receive a buy one get one free offer for the Chicken Burger, good July 14-18.

The Boston Market BLT Rotisserie Chicken Burger is a fresh take on a summer staple that comes at a fitting time. Last year marked the first time in a century that Americans consumed more chicken than beef, according to the USDA, and the popularity of poultry does not appear to be slowing down soon.

“With the popularity of chicken at an all-time high and the expansion of the ‘better burger’ category, the opportunity was perfect for a chicken burger,” said George Michel, CEO of Boston Market (a.k.a. “The Big Chicken”).  “We’ve created a burger as only Boston Market can – taking our signature rotisserie chicken and creating a delicious burger with bacon – it’s the best of both worlds.”

The launch of the BLT Rotisserie Chicken Burger is the latest in a series of innovations for the restaurant chain, including successful flavor extension Parmesan Tuscan Chicken and the introduction of Boston Market St. Louis Style Ribs. The ribs, which launched as a limited time offering last April, were added permanently to the menu last summer as the result of high demand. Most recently, Boston Market launched a new flavor for its ribs, Kentucky Bourbon BBQ. These offerings expand the already varied array of menu options for guests looking for an indulgent, home style meal.

McDonald’s Burgers Named Worst in America in Consumer Reports’ New Fast-Food Survey

KFC and Sbarro among the lowest-scoring chains overall, Chick-fil-A earns high marks; Plus, the best & worst chains for value, healthy options, most delectable fare.

McDonald's Burgers Named Worst in America in Consumer Reports' New Fast-Food SurveyYonkers, NY  (Restaurant News Release)  The burgers that made McDonald’s famous have been deemed the worst-tasting of all the major U.S burger chains by Consumer Reports’ readers. And when it comes to the most satisfying fast-food dining experience, biggest isn’t always best ? KFC and Sbarro earned some of the lowest scores in the survey.

The results of Consumer Reports fast-food survey, which are featured in the August 2014 issue and at http://www.ConsumerReports.org, are based on responses from 32,405 subscribers about more than 96, 200 dining experiences at 65 hamburger, Asian, pizza, sandwich, chicken, and Mexican fast-food and fast-casual chains.

“More and more, food quality ? not just low price ? is emerging as a deciding-factor for many Americans when choosing where to spend their dining dollars,” said Tod Marks, senior projects editor for Consumer Reports. “Strong regional players and slightly more upscale fast-casual chains like Chipotle are giving the heavy-hitters in the fast-food business a wake-up call. And our survey clearly shows the big guys need to respond.”

Chicken from Chick-fil-A, was deemed among the most delicious; the chain also received the highest satisfaction score in a category that includes KFC, Boston Market, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, and others. This national chain also stood out for cleanliness of the dining area and polite and speedy service.

Consumer Reports’ fast-food Ratings include many superb dining options. National chains such as Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Smashburger, and Fuddruckers, received high scores for the tastiness of their burgers.

The study further shows that cheap food isn’t necessarily a bargain. Only around one of five respondents thought their meal offered excellent value. Del Taco, Little Caesars, and Papa Murphy’s Take ‘N’ Bake Pizza were at the top of the list at delivering bang for the buck, while Burger King, Church’s, KFC, Panda Express, and Sbarro landed at the bottom.

Despite many restaurants’ best efforts to include healthier items such as soup, salads, and grilled-rather-than fried items on their menus, Consumer Reports’ survey revealed that most fast-food diners aren’t concerned about dieting when they eat out. Only 20 percent of respondents said they consider the availability of healthful menu options when choosing a restaurant; just 19 percent said they ordered a healthful fare during their most recent restaurant visit. Nearly all of Subway’s and Jason’s Deli’s diners said those restaurants offered plenty of healthy menu options while far fewer Little Caesars and White Castle diners felt the same.

The full report from Consumer Reports fast-food survey is featured in the August 2014 issue of the magazine and is available at http://www.ConsumerReports.org.

Boston Market Offers Health Conscious Consumers More Than 100 Meals under 550 Calories

Home Style Chain Meals among the Lowest Calorie Options in the Fast-Casual Category

Boston Market Offers Health Conscious Consumers More Than 100 Meals under 550 CaloriesGolden, CO  (Restaurant News Release)  It’s been 2014 for a week, and if you’re like most people, that resolution to eat healthier this year is already starting to feel a little too ambitious. Boston Market is helping consumers stick to their goal with the announcement of the “Meals Under 550 Calories” menu, containing more than 100 options that make watching your waistline anything but boring.

The low-calorie menu is one of the largest of its kind among fast-casual restaurants, and includes a variety of delicious and satisfying entrees and sides for guests to choose from. Offerings range from Individual Meals featuring Boston Market’s signature Rotisserie Chicken to the restaurant’s popular Market Bowls.

“We know our guests are busy, and finding a restaurant that offers satisfying, nutritious meals, outside of a traditional salad offering, can be challenging,” said George Michel, CEO of Boston Market (a.k.a. “The Big Chicken”). “At Boston Market we believe a healthy meal can still be a great tasting, filling one, and our ‘Meals Under 550 Calories’ menu is designed to help guests enjoy lower calorie options that taste great.”

Other health-conscious initiatives that Boston Market will feature in January include:

  • Nutrition Calculator – An interactive Nutrition Calculator allows guests to custom-build Boston Market meals online and obtain their nutritional values. The calculator is available at www.BostonMarket.com.
  • Allergen Menu – An Allergen Menu feature helps guests with dietary restrictions (such as gluten intolerance) identify the menu items they can eat. It too is available at www.BostonMarket.com.
  • “35 Ways in 35 Days”– Each day for the next five weeks, Boston Market will feature one meal from its “Meals Under 550 Calories” menu on its website and Facebook and Twitter pages, along with a downloadable snapshot of all of the featured meals.

Boston Market has worked steadfastly over the last several years to create more nutritious menu items. In 2012, it removed salt shakers from tables in all its restaurants while committing to reduce sodium levels in all Boston Market signature items by 20 percent, and in all menu items by 15 percent, by the end of 2014. Boston Market is also a proud participant in the National Restaurant Association’s “Kids Live Well” program, and a strategic partner of the United States Department of Agriculture’s “MyPlate” program.

In addition to helping consumers eat healthier, Boston Market is also assisting those who resolved to save money in 2014. The restaurant will feature a “Complete 2 for $20” deal from now through the end of March. Specifically, for $20, guests can enjoy two Individual Meals with two sides, two desserts and two fountain drinks.
