Boston Market Survey Reveals How Families Celebrate Mom on Mother’s Day

Boston Market Survey Reveals How Families Celebrate Mom on Mother's Day

Study finds mothers are working harder than ever in- and outside the home; 60 percent of Americans plan to “tweet” mom on her special day

Company makes it easy for families to come together and spend quality time around the table with holiday specials and deals available on Mother’s Day and beyond

Boston Market Survey Reveals How Families Celebrate Mom on Mother's DayGolden, CO  (Restaurant News ReleaseBoston Market®, the rotisserie cooking and contemporary home style meal experts, today released consumer insights from a nationwide Mother’s Day survey* that unveils just how families celebrate mom on their special day.

According to 49 percent of America, Mother’s Day leads the pack as the favorite holiday during the spring and summer seasons. When it comes to treating that special lady in their lives, 78 percent of the country plans to give mom a gift this May 14, while 60 percent of us will rely on social media to wish mom a “Happy Mother’s Day.”

Moms with children (16 or younger) are working harder than ever to carry the brunt of chores around the house – and only 16 percent are planning to treat themselves this Mother’s Day. Compared to their spouses, moms are still investing more hours per week cooking (8.8 vs. 6), doing laundry (5.9 vs. 4) and cleaning (8.2 vs. 4.8), making them all the more deserving to be showered with love – and a meal – on Sunday, May 14.

With 80 percent of survey respondents noting that they enjoy a special meal as part of their Mother’s Day celebrations, Boston Market, known for its hassle-free home style meals, is doing its part to recognize and celebrate moms across the country by offering $5 off all Family Meals (for four or more people) on Sunday, May 14.

Additional ways families can treat Mom at Boston Market ahead of or on Mother’s Day include:

  • 2 for $20 Meal Deal: For those celebrating prior to May 14, the recently extended 2 for $20 meal deal offers guests two Individual Meals, two drinks and two desserts for only $20 now through Mother’s Day.
  • Facebook Gift Card Giveaway: Visit the Boston Market Facebook page Monday, May 8 through Friday, May 12 for a chance to win a Boston Market gift card or Family Meal. Each day Boston Market will provide a different topic for fans to comment with their own stories celebrating mom (ex. mom as a superhero). A winner will be selected at the end of each day.
  • Dessert Deal: Every mom who dines on Mother’s Day will receive a coupon for a free cookie on her next visit to any participating Boston Market (redeemable May 15 – 31, while supplies last).
Boston Market Survey Reveals How Families Celebrate Mom on Mother's Day

2 for $20 Meal Deal

“Mom takes priority this May, and we wanted to offer those gift givers out there multiple ways to treat and enjoy a relaxing meal with the special women in their lives,” stated Boston Market CEO, George Michel, also known as “The Big Chicken.” “Nothing says you care quite like giving mom a delicious meal, from our 2 for $20 meal deal to our Mother’s Day Family Meal offer, and we look forward to providing all of our guests with home style meals worthy of this special occasion.”

More insights Boston Market uncovered around how Americans celebrate Mother’s Day, include:

  • Dine Out or Stay In. Of the 80 percent of Americans who enjoy a special meal as part of their Mother’s Day celebrations, 53 percent expect to share their meal at a restaurant.
  • Keep Mom on Speed Dial. 74 percent of moms report receiving phone calls from family members on Mother’s Day while 64 percent receive loving text messages.
  • Put Some Thought into It. Only 50 percent of moms surveyed typically receive actual cards on Mother’s Day, so there’s lots of work to be done to show her some old-fashioned appreciation!
  • In-Store Shopping Takes the Cake. Of the 78 percent of Americans who plan to shower mom with gifts for Mother’s Day, 72 percent plan to go to a store to find that perfect something; 46 percent of gift-givers said they might also do some online shopping this year.

Summer Arrives Early With St. Louis Style BBQ Ribs & Chicken Meal At Boston Market

Summer Arrives Early With St. Louis Style BBQ Ribs & Chicken Meal At Boston Market

Unusually warm spring brings favorite picnic food pairing to menu

Summer Arrives Early With St. Louis Style BBQ Ribs & Chicken Meal At Boston MarketGolden, CO  (Restaurant News Release)  After the warmest March on record and with outdoor activities just around the corner, Boston Market® is giving guests an early taste of their favorite seasonal dishes. The restaurant chain is offering its BBQ Ribs & Chicken meal, served with two sides and fresh cornbread, for $12.99*. The experts on home style cooking have mastered the slow roasting of St. Louis style ribs, which are slathered in a sweet, peppery barbecue sauce.

“The time it takes to prepare great tasting ribs is the main reason that people don’t enjoy them more often, so we’re happy to make it as easy as a visit to a Boston Market restaurant,” said Boston Market CEO George Michel, also known as The Big Chicken.

Michel was referencing a finding from a new, national survey on ribs commissioned by Boston Market. The survey also found that rib lovers prefer the pairing of ribs and chicken (54%) two to one over ribs and pulled pork (21%) and ribs and grilled burgers (21%).

First offered in 2013, the BBQ Ribs menu item has become a guest favorite at Boston Market, especially when paired with the signature Rotisserie Chicken.

“We’re delighted to offer two summertime favorites – ribs and rotisserie chicken – side by side at such a great value,” said Michel.

Boston Market’s St. Louis style seasoned ribs are slow-roasted and exceptionally meaty. The brand found that a ¼ rack of the St. Louis variety yielded almost 2 ounces more meat than a ½ rack of baby back ribs from other fast casual competitors.

And what sides will be requested most often to complete the ribs and chicken meal? Ribs lovers say that sweet corn (34%) and mac & cheese (20%) are their top choices, according to the survey.

Along with every other item on the Boston Market menu, the BBQ Ribs & Chicken meal is real food that’s carefully prepared, affordable and without compromise. It’s all part of the restaurant’s promise to deliver an experience that is all good.

According to an annual holiday survey from Boston Market, the trend of using prepared foods in Thanksgiving meals continues to increase – with nearly half of all consumers planning to use prepared foods this holiday season.

The survey also found that while 86 percent of consumers enjoy the overall meal experience, the two greatest pain points are shopping for the meal and cleaning up afterward.

“Recently the Department of Commerce released new data showing that this year, for the first time, Americans are spending more money dining out than on buying groceries,” said Michel. “Over the past five years, we’ve gained consumer’s trust by providing a variety of innovative holiday meal options at prices people can feel good about.”

All 453 Boston Market restaurants nationwide, excluding its food court locations, will be open on Thanksgiving Day (hours vary by location) and will offer guests a variety of holiday meal options, including:

  • Heat & Serve Holiday Meals: Meals for 4 to 12, turkey or ham. The Holiday Experts® at Boston Market will handle all the cooking and seasoning. Guests can purchase a whole roasted turkey meal for 12 – including one whole turkey, spinach artichoke dip, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry walnut relish, vegetable stuffing, dinner rolls and two whole pies for only $109.99.
  • Thanksgiving Day Meal: For those who plan to dine out or who need last-minute side items, Boston Market offers holiday favorites like the Thanksgiving Day Meal, which features roasted turkey breast or chicken with two home style sides, fresh baked cornbread and a slice of apple or pumpkin pie.
  • Hot & Ready Catered Buffets: Whether you need a holiday meal for the family or office, Boston Market will take care of every detail and even deliver the feast.
  • A la Carte: If you need more mashed potatoes, burn the pumpkin pie or are simply pressed for time in the kitchen, Boston Market has all the sides and desserts you need for a stress-free holiday.

To help with last minute planning, The Holiday Experts® will accept Heat & Serve and catering orders for Thanksgiving Day until 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 25. In addition to online ordering via www.bostonmarket.com, orders can also be placed by calling 866-977-9090.

Boston Market Brings Soldiers A Taste Of Home

Boston Market Brings Soldiers A Taste Of Home

New Restaurant at Fort Jackson Marks the Company’s Third Military Base Opening

Boston Market Brings Soldiers A Taste Of HomeGolden, CO  (Restaurant News Release)  When our nation’s soldiers leave home to serve their country, it’s hard to say goodbye to time spent with family and friends over warm, home style-cooked meals. In an effort to bring a taste of home to our service members, Boston Market has teamed up with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (Exchange) to open restaurants on military bases across the country.

This month, the Exchange opened a Boston Market restaurant at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, its third on a military installation. Fort Jackson is the largest and most active Initial Entry Training Center in the U.S. Army, training more than 45,000 soldiers every year. The new Fort Jackson restaurant is located at 4110 Moseby St. in Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

The restaurant opening at Fort Jackson is part of a new expansion effort for Boston Market. Last year, the company signed an agreement with the Exchange to open Boston Market restaurants on military bases, including Fort Meade in Maryland and Fort Bliss in Texas, both of which opened last fall. Additional restaurants are planned for the remainder of 2015.

“We’ve had four great years of same-restaurant sales increases, and we’re growing again, so expanding is a key pillar for success,” said George Michel, CEO of Boston Market (a.k.a. “The Big Chicken”). “We make it a priority to support service members and their families, and we’re glad we can bring a taste of home to soldiers, one meal at a time.”

Beyond taking restaurants to military installations, Boston Market is also recruiting former service members to join its ranks. In particular, Boston Market is collaborating with military placement and transition offices and utilizing military and veteran job posting boards to attract prospective candidates.

In addition to the military base locations opened by the Exchange, Boston Market plans to open six company-owned restaurants this year in areas like New York and Florida. Boston Market is on a mission to deliver an experience to customers that is “All Good”. Launched last month, the “All Good” campaign is about highlighting in a bold way what sets Boston Market apart – great food, great service and great people.
