MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes Shows a Commitment to High-Quality, Fresh Ingredients with Continued Partnership with Avocados From Mexico

The fast-casual, “better burger” franchise is committed to providing a quality product to Guests while supporting Franchise Owners with incremental sales opportunities.

Dallas, TX  (Restaurant News ReleaseMOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes, the fast-casual restaurant franchise that’s known for its mouthwatering, made-to-order “better burgers,” is updating its offerings to include the brand’s vendor Avocados From Mexico’s “100% fresh” seal on all new menu formats, online descriptions, social media and email campaigns, beginning this fall.

As consumers look for healthier options, MOOYAH’s updated menu, which completed its rollout on October 6, has been thoughtfully redesigned with changing consumer demands in mind. MOOYAH is now using the fresh seal on social and email marketing campaigns whenever photos of avocado are shown — specifically for the Lifestyle Burgers, a variety of menu offerings that launched last year with a focus on meeting Guest’s nutritional preferences.

Recently, Avocados From Mexico sponsored free delivery through the MOOYAH Rewards App for all orders that included fresh avocado on National Avocado Day on July 31. The fresh seal was included on all to-go packaging that entire weekend, and MOOYAH saw a 41% year-over-year increase in avocado sales for July, helping to benefit the brand’s Franchise Owners.

“We have been partners with MOOYAH for the past few years, and we love knowing that people are enjoying our fresh avocados on their burgers,” said David Spirito, Senior Director of Culinary & Food Service for AFM. “We are looking forward to continuing our relationship and being able to provide MOOYAH Guests with our top-quality product that enhances their meals.”

According to studies by Technomic that were commissioned by Avocados From Mexico, 83 percent of Guests want restaurants to add more fresh items to their menus, 67 percent of Guests believe avocado add-ons improve menu item quality perceptions and 54 percent of consumers want more avocados on their sandwiches. Avocados From Mexico are always in season 365 days a year, assuring the best in freshness and flavor.

MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes Vice President of Brand Natalie Anderson Liu notes that Avocados From Mexico not only helps make the brand’s offerings even tastier for Guests, but also more successful and lucrative for Franchise Owners.

“Avocados From Mexico has been so generous as a brand partner, helping make initiatives like free delivery possible,” said Anderson Liu. “We are committed to providing a quality product to our Guests while supporting our Franchise Owners through menu innovation and promotions that drive continued growth in our app downloads and usage. Featuring fresh, heart healthy avocados as a delicious burger topping while also driving more Guests to order MOOYAH from our app is win-win.”

Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers To Develop 50 New Restaurants Across Florida And The Southeast

Leading Fast Casual Concept Signs Multi-Unit Agreement and Continues Accelerating Growth

Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers To Develop 50 New Restaurants Across Florida And The SoutheastWichita, KS  (Restaurant News ReleaseFreddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, a leading national fast-casual restaurant concept known for its cooked-to-order Steakburgers and freshly churned frozen custard treats, announced today it has signed a multi-unit franchise agreement to develop 50 new restaurants over the next several years across the Southeast. As part of this agreement, Freddy’s will grow its footprint throughout the Florida west coast and panhandle, with locations currently under development and slated to open next year in Pensacola and Tampa.

These new restaurants will be owned by experienced multi-unit operators RSolution Holdings, who signed a 50-unit deal with Freddy’s after acquiring three of the brand’s Florida locations in Bradenton, Sarasota, and Ocala last year. Principals at RSolution have more than 40 years of collective experience in shopping center development and have worked with  numerous restaurant brands over the years in their real estate dealings.

“I was introduced to Randy Simon through our mutual involvement with the International Council of Shopping Centers. Randy’s passion for the brand coupled with the impressive proven business model motivated  our group to explore Freddy’s franchise opportunities. After purchasing several existing locations in Florida, we saw firsthand how well the state’s dual demographic resonated with the concept and didn’t hesitate to expand our partnership with a larger multi-unit deal,” said Gary Grewe, Principal. “Freddy’s shares our commitment to prioritizing our Team Members and Guests above all else, and we’re very excited to be a part of the growth of this terrific brand.”

This year, Freddy’s has opened 29 new restaurants to date with additional locations in the pipeline slated to open before year-end, including its milestone 400th location.

The Bergeson Family is Opening Another “Better Burger” Restaurant Location with a Refreshed Design

More MOOYAH in Madison: Multi-Unit Franchise Owners Open Fourth Madison LocationMadison, WI  (Restaurant News ReleaseMOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes, a fast casual, “better burger” franchise, is opening its fourth restaurant in Madison on November 16th to continue to satisfy the taste buds of burger enthusiasts in the Badger state. The restaurant is located at 605 Junction Road and will mark the fourth MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes restaurant owned by the Bergeson family. The new location will feature the refreshed design, showcasing new dining zones and seating arrangements, purposeful third-party and to-go shelving, a closed kitchen, digital menu boards and a new logo.

Josh and Lucas, along with their father Randy Bergeson, opened Wisconsin’s first MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes in 2015. Prior to joining the MOOYAH brand, Randy managed Hardee’s and Culver’s locations and then opened three of his own Subways in southwest Wisconsin. It was after Lucas graduated from college that he suggested the family open a restaurant together. After exploring different franchise options, the trio loved MOOYAH’s simple, customizable menu and the idea of bringing the brand to an untapped market, giving them boundless opportunities for expansion.

“MOOYAH has been so well-received by the community since we opened our first restaurant. We attribute a lot of our success to the people we have promoted from within and our team’s commitment to exceed our Guests’ expectations day in and day out,” said Josh Bergeson. “Our general managers are truly a great extension of our ownership group and are a part of our MOOYAH family. We would not be able to continue to expand and thrive if it wasn’t for them.”

MOOYAH’s appeal to young families initially attracted the Bergesons to the brand, and they have continued to see their locations become family favorites in Madison over the last five years.

“The Bergeson family is a great example of how multi-unit, family owners can thrive with the MOOYAH model,” said MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes President Tony Darden. “The family will have four restaurants open in just five years, so they’ve clearly found their place in Madison by getting involved with their community, treating employees right and providing Guests with the best experience possible.”

At MOOYAH, Guests have the advantage of choosing from a variety of bun options, such as baked-in-house artisan potato or multigrain wheat non-GMO buns and hand-crafted lettuce buns called Iceburgers to accompany the never-frozen, 100 percent Certified Angus Beef® brand burgers, all natural Jennie-O turkey and Dr. Praeger’s black bean vegan burgers. Each gourmet burger can be customized with six cheeses, Applewood smoked bacon and sliced avocado, along with ten free veggie toppings and ten free sauces.

MOOYAH’s hand-cut fries come together in a six-step process that takes a total of 24 hours to completely prepare. A delightful combination of constant attention and a little magic help transform U.S. #1 Idaho potatoes into perfect, crisp-on-the-outside and fluffy-on-the-inside fries. Guests also have the choice of savory sweet potato fries. Never one to forget dessert, MOOYAH offers 100 percent real ice cream shakes, allowing Guests to choose from 7 flavors ranging from vanilla and Hershey’s chocolate to Reese’s, Oreo and more.

MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes Partners with Agape Management to Bring 10 New Restaurants to Dallas and to Remodel Two Existing Locations as They Assume Ownership

MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes Partners with Agape Management to Bring 10 New Restaurants to Dallas and to Remodel Two Existing Locations as They Assume Ownership

The first of 10 new locations will open in the first quarter of 2021; new locations will bring a total of more than 250 jobs to the Metroplex

MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes Partners with Agape Management to Bring 10 New Restaurants to Dallas and to Remodel Two Existing Locations as They Assume OwnershipDallas, TX  (Restaurant News Release)  Dallas-Fort Worth residents can look forward to more opportunities to enjoy MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes’ ridiculiciously tasty food in the next few years. The “better burger” concept offering mouth-watering, made-to-order burgers, French fries hand cut from Idaho potatoes, and real ice cream shakes, has signed a massive deal with Agape Management to bring 10 new locations to the franchise brand’s home market of Dallas. Additionally, Agape Management is taking over ownership and remodeling two existing area locations to feature the brand’s new prototype with new dining zones, digital menus, a grab-and-go bottled beverage fridge and to-go shelving.

Longtime friends and seasoned food and beverage executives Sean McCullough, Greg Stevens and Ted Beaman formed Agape Management to implement their management philosophy of “Lead With Love” in promising growth brands and select turnaround opportunities within the restaurant and entertainment sectors.  The team was aware of MOOYAH’S innovation and development efforts led by company President Tony Darden and believed that the MOOYAH mission aligned perfectly with Agape’s objectives.

“Because of our shared values and history, we wanted to become MOOYAH Franchise Owners together,” said Stevens. “We’re always looking for brands and businesses where we can use our expertise, and MOOYAH was an easy fit for us because we knew the leadership team. We knew the product and the commitment to its Guests and Team Members, and that aligned really well with our values. We saw an opportunity to build on the brand’s Dallas-Fort Worth footprint and take growth in the area to the next level.”

The group is looking forward to bringing MOOYAH’s delicious offerings to the community, but that’s not all. Agape plans to partner with the local community by creating 250 new jobs and being involved in local events that raise funds for community initiatives like local PTA and soccer clubs, according to McCullough.

“We know MOOYAH as Guests, we love it from that perspective, and we want to be engaged in our communities as great representatives for the brand,” said Beaman. “And since the company brought in new ownership a few years ago, MOOYAH has done a lot to benefit the Franchise Owners — including improving the quality of the product and enhancing the Franchise Owner experience. We see MOOYAH as a very high-quality brand that hasn’t gotten enough attention yet, and now is an opportune time to get in on the action. The leadership team has always been focused on improving the Guest experience, and even more so now during the pandemic. We want to be able to partner with them on that.”

Darden says that he is eager to see the potential of MOOYAH and Agape’s partnership come to fruition as their new locations begin to open, and he’s confident that the group’s passion for the brand will drive future success.

“MOOYAH is beyond excited to partner with Agape Management on this expansion across our home market and to show off the brand’s new vision to the Dallas-Fort Worth area with the addition of two remodeled stores,” said Darden. “They loved their experience with the brand as friends and Guests and are now ready to bring it to more communities as Franchise Owners by providing our affordable and tasty food to Guests across the metroplex.”

Agape will be remodeling two DFW locations that will showcase new dining zones and seating arrangements, purposeful third-party and to-go shelving, a closed kitchen, digital menu boards, and a new logo. Agape has plans to open the first of its 10 new locations within the first quarter of 2021 and hopes to see the second location open by Q2.

“We’re planning to open two new stores in the Mid-Cities” said Beaman. “In terms of where we’re looking exactly, we want to take a broad view of the market — anywhere from Dallas to Fort Worth to Denton.”

Since 2016, Freddy’s has donated $75,000 to the organization, a national non-profit organization that partners with teachers and students in underserved schools to provide the resources needed for teachers to teach and learners to learn.

“Year after year, Freddy’s has shown incredible commitment to students and teachers across the country,” said Corey Gordon, CEO of Kids In Need Foundation. “The support from both Freddy’s and its guests inspires learning across the country and we look forward to continuing to collaborate in the future.”

On September 29, 2020, Freddy’s Director of Franchise Support Mike Mann presented the check to the Kids In Need Foundation at the Rogers, MN Freddy’s location.

“This year’s success has been really uplifting for everyone involved, given the obstacles that we’ve all faced over the last few months,” said Randy Simon, co-founder and CEO for Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers. “We’re inspired every day by the mission of Kids In Need Foundation and are honored to be able to help in this way. Lafayette-area SONIC Drive-Ins Bring Back 'Ragin' Cajun Cheeseburger' 9th Straight YearLafayette, LA  (Restaurant News Release)  The taste of Ragin’ Cajun football is back this fall at SONIC Drive-Ins. The Ragin’ Cajun Cheeseburger, featuring real Louisiana spices and an edible team logo, is available at all Lafayette-area SONIC locations.

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette not only has a one-of-a-kind mascot. It also has a one-of-a-kind cheeseburger.

The Ragin’ Cajun burger is an authentic Cajun burger and is built with local ingredients, including Tabasco flavored mayonnaise, a packet of Tony Chachere’s spices, fried onion strings, spicy pepper jack cheese, grilled onions and a 100% pure beef patty.

“Tony Chachere’s is excited to be partnering up with Sonic once again to bring back the Ragin’ Cajun Burger! There’s no place like home, and no taste like home,” says Celeste Chachere, director of marketing.

“We’re excited to see the Sonic Ragin’ Cajun Burger back on the menu,” said Stephen Romero, McIlhenny Company U.S. Domestic Sales. “We’re pleased to partner with Sonic once again to showcase our local Louisiana culture in this one-of-a-kind burger.”

Based in Lafayette, Kergan Bros. Inc. owns and operates 58 SONIC drive-ins in south and central Louisiana. President Gary Wilkerson. “And that’s good, because in Lafayette, if you put the word ‘Cajun’ on food, it better be the real thing.”

The Ragin’ Cajun cheeseburger has the unique edible logo, which has been featured in publications such as USA Today, Nation’s Restaurant News, ESPN, CBS, NBC, Sports Illustrated and newspapers nationwide. It is the only such logo in college athletics.

Ben & Jerry’s Multi-Unit Franchisee Opens MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes’ Largest Location in Hollywood Plaza

Ben & Jerry's Multi-Unit Franchisee Opens MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes' Largest Location in Hollywood Plaza

Tareq Qarman opens the nation’s largest MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes and the second Orlando location to open this year

Ben & Jerry's Multi-Unit Franchisee Opens MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes' Largest Location in Hollywood PlazaOrlando, FL  (Restaurant News ReleaseMOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes, a fast casual, “better burger” chain, is opening its third restaurant in Orlando on Monday, September 14th with Franchise Owner Tareq Qarman. The new location is opening at 8050 International Dr. and will be the brand’s largest location to date, with a 4,100 square foot restaurant ready to serve hungry Guests after a long day at some of the nation’s most visited and beloved theme parks.

Qarman has lived in Orlando since his parents moved from Palestine in 1993. After graduating high school, he started working at Golden Corral, spending 16 years with the company learning the ins and outs of the restaurant business before gaining the confidence to step out on his own. He opened the first of his six Ben & Jerry’s locations at the Hollywood Plaza in 2010, and now, in that same plaza, he’s opening his first MOOYAH Burgers, Fries and Shakes.

Approximately three years ago, Qarman decided it was time to branch out from dessert in order to maximize his 16 years of foodservice experience. “I first discovered MOOYAH on Instagram. When I got a chance to taste the brand’s ‘better burgers,’ I thought it was amazing. I loved the customizable concept, and as an ice cream guy, I was really impressed with the milkshakes. They use real ice cream, not just sugar and milk. They care about creating a quality product. That’s what sold me.”

This restaurant is one of eight MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes locations opening this year featuring the new design, in addition to four restaurants that will be remodeled to showcase the updated prototype by the end of the year. The location includes dining room seating zones created to accommodate community dining, dedicated third-party delivery and pickup shelving, digital menu boards and an overall more modern vibe. The redesign, which includes a refreshed logo, was created in collaboration with Madrid-based design company Livit – a team of architects, designers and developers who describe themselves as “global experts in Guest experience and design.”

With the ability to hold up to 134 customers at a time, Qarmen’s new location complies with the COVID-19 safety regulations implemented by both the state and MOOYAH Burgers, Fries and Shakes. Qarman will offer socially-distanced indoor and outdoor seating, a contactless third-party delivery and to-go station and require all employees to wear masks, among heightened cleaning and sanitation practices.

Currently, there are two locations in Orlando. The first opened in the Oviedo Mall in the fall of 2018 and the second opened in March 2020 in the SoDo neighborhood. The growing franchise brand is actively looking to partner with additional Franchise Owners to bring an additional fifteen locations to the greater Orlando area, creating a total of more than 350 jobs across the area.

“As Tareq opens his first MOOYAH restaurant, we are looking forward to expanding our presence across Orlando with him,” said MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes President Tony Darden. “Orlando residents are starting to crave our quality menu, and now, even more visitors will gain additional access to our ‘better burgers’ and superior customer service. With Orlando being a top tourist destination in the U.S., we are hopeful that even more Guests will fall in love with our brand and want to become Franchise Owners in their hometowns, helping expand the MOOYAH footprint across America.”

At MOOYAH, Guests have the advantage of choosing from a variety of bun options, such as baked-in-house artisan potato or multigrain wheat non-GMO buns and hand-crafted lettuce buns called Iceburgers to accompany the never-frozen, 100% Certified Angus Beef® burgers, all natural Jennie-O® turkey burgers and Dr. Praeger’s black bean vegan burgers. Each gourmet burger can be customized with five real cheeses, bacon, avocado and 20 free sauces and toppings made from garden-fresh veggies.

MOOYAH’s hand-cut fries come together in a six-step process that takes a total of 24 hours to completely prepare. A delightful combination of constant attention and a little magic help transform U.S. No. 1 Idaho potatoes into perfect, crisp-on-the-outside and fluffy-on-the-inside fries. Guests also have the choice of savory sweet potato fries. Never one to forget dessert, MOOYAH offers 100% real ice cream shakes, allowing Guests to choose from seven flavors of 100% real ice cream shakes, including vanilla, Hershey’s chocolate, Reese’s, Oreo and more.

Brothers-in-Law Open Their First MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes in Guilford, Connecticut

Brothers-in-Law Open Their First MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes in Guilford, Connecticut

Nesh and Kal Patel are opening The Constitution State’s fourth MOOYAH, featuring the new brand redesign

Brothers-in-Law Open Their First MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes in Guilford, ConnecticutGuilford, CT  (Restaurant News Release)  Brother-in-law business partners Nesh and Kal Patel are opening their first MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes, a fast casual, “better burger” franchise featuring an updated store design, in the charming town of Guilford, Conn. on August 24th. The duo first tried MOOYAH at the Storrs, Conn. location and were so impressed by the product and experience that they wanted to open a MOOYAH restaurant of their own. The restaurant is located in the Guilford Commons at 1919 Boston Post Rd.

“We are passionate about wanting to provide the families in our communities with a great dining experience that the whole family can enjoy,” said Nesh. “MOOYAH not only offers affordable prices, but the fresh food is outstanding.”

Once they started looking into the franchise opportunity, the Patels were inspired to own a MOOYAH because of the close connection Franchise Owners have with the corporate team.

“We are thrilled to be opening a new location with another set of new Franchise Owners, Kal and Nesh,” said MOOYAH President Tony Darden. “We are looking forward to growing our presence by adding our fourth location in Connecticut and further strengthening our presence in the Northeast. We plan to continue to serve communities in the state by adding five additional locations and 125 jobs across Connecticut.”

Nesh’s career has been in electronics at Samsung electronics, and he also has experience working as a manager of five Dunkin Donuts locations where he oversaw more than 80 employees. Kal has a background in computer science and worked in multiple aerospace industries with a long career in IT at Pratt & Whitney. The pair have been business partners for 15 years and own a liquor store along the Shoreline. They were always interested in exploring the food industry and after trying MOOYAH and researching the brand, they knew this would be the next business venture for them.

In February, MOOYAH opened its first restaurant featuring the new design that showcases updated dining zones and seating arrangements, purposeful third-party and to-go shelving, a closed kitchen, digital menu boards and a new logo. The Guilford restaurant is one of the first 10 locations nationally to be designed with the updated look, along with the University of Connecticut location that was recently remodeled.

MOOYAH Burgers, Fries and Shakes Releases New Campfire Burger & S’mores Shake Capturing Nostalgic Flavors as Americans Spend More Time Outdoors

MOOYAH Burgers, Fries and Shakes Releases New Campfire Burger & S'mores Shake Capturing Nostalgic Flavors as Americans Spend More Time Outdoors

The “better burger” restaurant franchise is releasing a camping-inspired burger and shake pairing for a limited time only from August 3 – October 25

MOOYAH Burgers, Fries and Shakes Releases New Campfire Burger & S'mores Shake Capturing Nostalgic Flavors as Americans Spend More Time OutdoorsDallas, TX  (Restaurant News Release)  Grab your canteens and backpacks, campers! MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes, a leading “better burger” franchise featuring made-to-order burgers, is gearing up for a limited-time taste of outdoorsy fun with its new Campfire Burger and S’mores Shake. This delicious combo will be available starting August 3, but hurry! MOOYAH is only serving up these goodies through October 25.

“This has no doubt been a challenging year,” said MOOYAH VP of Brand Natalie Anderson Liu. “We wanted to release a special burger and shake pairing that’s delicious and nostalgic to provide the perfect comfort food meal. The hickory smoke sauce and crunch of our housemade potato chips on the Campfire Burger are unlike anything we’ve served before and we are so excited to bring this to our current and future fans. When enjoyed with the S’mores Shake, it’s a ridiculicious dining experience worth writing home about.”

The burger and shake combo are coming out at the perfect time to provide nostalgic comfort food for Americans. Though you won’t need your mosquito repellent to get in on the fun, the Campfire Burger is layered with flavors reminiscent of the outdoors — built between a potato bun, the burger hosts a quarter pound of Certified Angus Beef®, applewood-smoked bacon, grilled onions, melted cheddar cheese, a drizzle of housemade hickory smoke ‘campfire’ sauce, and topped with hand-cut potato chips as the perfect salty crunch.

The camping experience isn’t complete without a s’more, and MOOYAH’s shake gives the classic treat an ice cream twist. Vanilla ice cream is blended perfectly with all the essentials: marshmallow, Hershey’s® Chocolate syrup, chocolate flakes and, of course, graham cracker pieces. One sip, and you’ll be singing campfire songs with the family again in no time.

“Our menu strategy entering 2020 was to drive innovation through seasonally relevant Limited Time Offerings,” said MOOYAH President Tony Darden. “With the onset of the pandemic, we paused on this and aligned on a mission of doing whatever it takes to ensure all of our restaurants made it to the other side in a position of strength.  We now believe the time is right to resume our innovation strategy and offer new items that will appeal to our most loyal Guests, while also driving in new and lapsed Guests to the brand.”

When guests order the Campfire Burger and the S’mores Shake together and scan their receipt with the MOOYAH app, they receive 30 bonus points. MOOYAH invites guests to gather around the proverbial campfire and enjoy these nostalgic flavors through October 25.

The updated look provides a fun and inviting space for guests to enjoy a moment of carefree bliss in their daily routine.

“Over the past few months, SONIC has delighted millions of Americans, and we’re excited to visually bring that feeling to life with our new drive-in design,” said Claudia San Pedro, Brand President, SONIC Drive-In.  “Whether our guests are trying the latest craveable innovation in our drive-in stalls, sharing some Tots with friends on our patio, or getting their SONIC fix at the drive-thru, we want to create an atmosphere that sparks moments of delightful possibility.

The exterior of the drive-in highlights SONIC’s new brand identity with pops of red, blue and a bit of yellow, reminding guests that summertime is a feeling, not just a season. The new design also pays homage to SONIC’s signature beverages, with a large, brightly-lit cherry placed atop the building as a nod to the more than 9 million Cherry Limeades enjoyed at its drive-ins across the country each year.

Inside the drive-in, a brand-new kitchen layout enables teams to operate more efficiently, delivering on the brand’s original slogan of “service at the speed of sound.” That quick service is amplified by SONIC’s Mobile Order Ahead platform, allowing guests to take advantage of contactless ordering and payment.

The updated design will also translate seamlessly to previous formats and footprints as SONIC grows its presence across the U.S., and internationally. Already, several SONIC franchisees currently building or remodeling their locations have taken advantage of this new design.

The second restaurant in the new design is under construction in Fort Worth, Texas, and expected to open in July.

MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes to Provide Guests with its Mouthwatering, Customizable Meals in Upland, California

MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes to Provide Guests with its Mouthwatering, Customizable Meals in Upland, California

Computer Industry Veterans and Long-time Friends Gear Up to Open First of Three Franchised Restaurants

MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes to Provide Guests with its Mouthwatering, Customizable Meals in Upland, CaliforniaUpland, CA  (Restaurant News ReleaseMOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes, a fast casual, “better burger” franchise, is getting ready to extend its California footprint by opening the eighth location in Upland later this year. The restaurant will be located at 65 E Foothill Blvd. in the Upland Village Center. The Upland opening marks the first MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes restaurant for Franchise Owners Kit Chui and Hank Lu who believe its casual dine-in experience and versatility in delivery, curbside pick-up and to-go options for Guests will be a great fit for Upland. Once the Upland restaurant is established, Chui and Lu are planning to bring two more locations to Ontario and Claremont shortly after.

“When exploring different franchise opportunities, we couldn’t find anything like the high-quality options MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes has to offer,” said Lu. “We looked at other ‘better-burger’ competitors like BurgerIM, but MOOYAH was the standout choice for us based on the experience and quality food that will be perfect in Upland, Ontario and Claremont.”

Chui and Lu independently moved to Southern California from China in the late 80s and became close friends shortly after. Both working in the computer industry, the duo met because Lu was Chui’s computer supplier. They then worked together at multiple technology companies.

The business partners have dreamed of opening their own business together for the past several years, and they narrowed in on the restaurant industry knowing that Chui’s experience owning First Szechuan, a Chinese restaurant in Westwood, would help set them up for success. The duo considered opening a restaurant from scratch, but they chose to go into franchising to be able to follow a proven system and for stronger financial security for their ultimate retirement.

“Kit and Hank are going to be strong operators as they open their first MOOYAH and have plans to add two additional locations, which will bring us to 10 locations across California,” said MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes President Tony Darden. “The duo is dedicated to excellence and has experience in the restaurant industry. They no doubt will be bringing our world-class burgers, fries and shakes to the folks of Upland to enjoy however they please – through curbside pick-up, to-go, delivery – or in our dining rooms which will hopefully be open by the time this restaurant opens later this year.”

In February, MOOYAH opened its first restaurant featuring a new prototype that showcases new dining zones and seating arrangements, purposeful third-party and to-go shelving, a closed kitchen, digital menu boards, and a new logo. The Upland restaurant will be one of the first 10 locations nationally to be designed with the updated look.
