About El Fenix

Miguel “Mike” and Faustina “Mama Cha-Cha” Martinez began the legacy of El Fenix when they opened the first restaurant in 1918 in what was then the “Little Mexico” neighborhood of Dallas. From that beginning, Miguel and Faustina’s children and grandchildren grew the business to 15 stores. El Fenix has been a beloved DFW tradition for over 92 years and is best known for their award-winning chips and salsa, as well as their Wednesday Enchilada Special. Since acquiring the restaurants in 2008, Karns has now added four new stores and has plans to open four more locations in 2011.
