Local franchise owners step into coffee scene with fresh beignets and giveaways at Ritchie Station Marketplace
Capitol Heights, MD (Restaurant News Release) PJ’s Coffee, the beloved New Orleans-born brand known for its small-batch roasting technique and warm hospitality, welcomed its newest Maryland shop on May 15 at 1703 Ritchie Station Court, Suite 100.
A celebratory ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Prince George’s County Chamber of Commerce, the mayor, local leaders and community partners kicked off the festivities at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 15. On Saturday, May 16, PJ’s invites friends, family and coffee enthusiasts to attend as the first 50 guests will receive Free Coffee For A Year awards, and visitors can enter prize drawings throughout the day.
Clement Troutman and his family – his wife Jacqueline and two adult children, Jocelyn and Jordan – own and operate their first PJ’s Coffee shop through Troutman Management LLC, collectively contributing to daily operations and technology initiatives. A Navy veteran and former defense contractor, Clement and his family previously launched two Tropical Smoothie Cafe restaurants in Bowie and Capitol Heights. Jacqueline, a former Department of Defense manager, serves as the company’s chief financial officer.
The family was introduced to the PJ’s Coffee brand by a friend during the pandemic while exploring opportunities in the coffee industry. They connected with its commitment to quality, veteran-friendly culture and deep-rooted New Orleans influence, values that align with their family’s focus on service and long-term community investment. They continue to support youth education programs, school supply drives, public safety outreach efforts and local wellness initiatives in partnership with area organizations and municipal leaders.
“We’re thrilled to bring a welcoming neighborhood coffee spot to Capitol Heights and continue contributing to a place that has supported our family and businesses for years,” Clement Troutman said. “Giving back is part of who we are, and we look forward to creating job opportunities and building strong partnerships with local schools, nonprofits and city officials as we serve a great cup of coffee and famous French Quarter beignets.”

The café sits in the Ritchie Station shopping center near Exit 13 off Interstate 495, close to Dave & Buster’s, and offers a convenient drive-thru for commuters, students and nearby residents. Guests can enjoy PJ’s signature powdered-sugar-dusted beignets, seasonal Mardi Gras favorites such as the Frozen King Cake, Purple Energy and Carnival Latte, and staples including the Vienna Cold Creme and hot Café Au Lait.
PJ’s Coffee Capitol Heights will be open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

About PJ’s Coffee
Phyllis Jordan, a pioneer in the coffee industry, founded PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans in 1978 and demonstrated that better beans, superior roasting techniques and pure passion for the art of coffee-making mattered. In 2008, the company was purchased by New Orleans natives and brothers Paul, Steven, and Scott Ballard. PJ’s Coffee serves a wide variety of hot, iced and frozen coffee beverages using only the best quality Arabica coffee beans, as well as organic tea and fresh breakfast pastries. PJ’s Original Cold Brew™ Iced Coffee is brewed daily using a special cold-drip process that protects the flavor and strength of the beans while producing a coffee that is two-thirds less acidic – a process and technique developed by its founder and used for more than 45 years at all PJ’s locations. Bags of whole-bean coffee and single-serve cups of PJ’s Coffee are available for sale in-store and online. With more than 185 operating stores, including four international locations, PJ’s Coffee continues to grow in the U.S. and abroad.
