Halloween Less Frightful for Kids with Food Allergies

MenuTrinfo will give out toys instead of candy this Halloween, teal pumpkin project

Halloween Less Frightful for Kids with Food AllergiesFort Collins, CO  (Restaurant News ReleaseMenuTrinfo® is taking on the mission to spread the joy of Halloween to include kids with food allergies and other special dietary needs. The company will provide toys as treats for the Tiny Tot Halloween event in Old Town, Fort Collins. The event will take place on October 31st beginning at 10am and include several businesses in the surrounding area.

The idea to give non-food items was sparked from the Teal Pumpkin Project championed by the allergy awareness group, Food Allergy and Education (FARE). As partners in food allergy, gluten-free and intolerances training for food service, MenuTrinfo wanted to support FARE’s project.

“The Teal Pumpkin Project is designed to promote safety, inclusion and respect of individuals managing food allergies – and to keep Halloween a fun, positive experience for all,” according to FARE. The idea is to paint a pumpkin teal-the color of food allergy awareness-and display it on the front porch to denote there are non-food items available for children with food allergies. The project has reached nearly 5 million people through social media and has been picked up through local and national news media.

The Tiny Tot Halloween event is a community event that brings several hundred children with their families and is likely to be attended by many children with food allergies, 1 out of every 15 kids has a food allergy. MenuTrinfo® will display a large teal sign outside of their office building along with other teal decorations to let kids with food allergies know they can safely trick-or-treat with the company. Among the businesses making it safer for kids with food allergies to trick-or-treat this year are; Hot Corner Concepts Old Town location restaurants; Big Als, Enzio’s, Austin’s American Grill, 1st National Bank, Mary’s Mountain Cookies, Clothes Pony,Mac Shack and of course MenuTrinfo, LLC headquarters. To find other businesses giving out non-food items, look for their teal pumpkin sign.
