Fort Worth native and professional poker player-turned-franchise operator goes “all in” on the counterculture sandwich shop
Fort Worth, TX (Restaurant News Release) Cheba Hut “Toasted” Subs, the counter-culture sandwich shop known for its chill vibes, cottonmouth cures and bold flavors that hit just right, is firing up a new joint in the Alliance district. The new location at 9833 N. Freeway, Suite 171, officially opens with a banger grand opening celebration on Monday, June 15, bringing munchie-destroying toasted subs, a full-service bar and good vibes to the north side of Fort Worth.
Situated near Texas Motor Speedway, Alliance Airport, Alliance Town Center and the Tanger Outlet Mall, the new Cheba Hut is ready to fuel up local residents, race fans, shoppers and anyone else looking for a delicious meal.
Behind the new location is Fort Worth native Chance Steed, a self-described risk-taker who spent years competing in World Series of Poker tournaments and now spends his free time snowboarding, wakeboarding and golfing. It was on one of those adventures that Cheba Hut found him.
“My first introduction to Cheba Hut happened on a snowboard trip to Steamboat Springs,” Steed said. “A friend took me to the Dillon shop on the drive in from Denver, and I remember immediately thinking this was unlike any sandwich place I’d been to before. The food and atmosphere definitely stood out, but what really caught my attention was the fact that it had a full bar. It felt like a place people actually wanted to spend time in, and as I started thinking about opportunities back in Texas, I saw real potential for bringing that same energy to Fort Worth.”
Steed saw in Cheba Hut what he’d learned to spot at the poker table: a strong hand worth going all-in on. He began looking into franchising before he left Colorado and never looked back.
“My wife Angie and I look at this as more than a restaurant,” said Steed. “It’s a place we want to operate like a true neighborhood hub. The goal is to build something where people can come in for a quick lunch or to hang out with friends. Fort Worth has a strong sense of community and authenticity, and Cheba Hut really aligns with that kind of everyday, come-as-you-are energy.”
Alliance is Steed’s third location, following Deep Ellum in Dallas and 8th Avenue in Fort Worth, with College Station on deck for next year and his long-term sights set on the entire DFW metroplex.
Like every Cheba Hut, the Alliance shop puts its own stamp on the space with one of the brand’s signature custom murals. Colorado-based artist Josh Finley, a Chebaverse mainstay whose work spans shops nationwide, created the piece as a nod to the area’s high-octane surroundings. Inspired by nearby Texas Motor Speedway and Alliance Airport, the mural takes a playful spin on racing culture, featuring imaginative characters, airborne thrills and plenty of speed. It’s equal parts local love letter and visual feast while guests await their tasty subs.
For those new to the brand, Cheba Hut’s toasted subs and roster of sides, snacks and sweets can satisfy any case of the munchies. Subs come in three sizes – nugs (4-inch), pinners (8-inch) and blunts (12-inch) – on white, wheat or garlic bread, with names inspired by classic cannabis strains.* While the sub options are truly endless, some of the most popular include the White Widow (Chicken, Bacon, Ranch), the Kali Mist (Spicy Club) and the Dank (Pizza). The menu also features bottomless Kool-Aid, chips, sweet treats and a full bar built for lingering. So grab your buds, roll up and stay awhile.
Cheba Hut Alliance will be open daily from 10 a.m. to midnight. For more information, visit ChebaHut.com or follow Cheba Hut on social media.
* No menu items contain actual THC or anything else derived from hemp or cannabis plants. The names and themes simply nod to the culture.
