Husband-and-wife team brings counterculture sandwich shop to Milwaukee’s south side this spring

Cheba Hut Brings the Toasted Life to Greenfield This SpringMilwaukee, WI  (Restaurant News ReleaseCheba Hut “Toasted” Subs, the counter-culture sandwich shop known for its chill vibes, cottonmouth cures and bold flavors that hit just right, is rolling into Greenfield and making it a whole lot greener. The new shop at 8871 W. Sura Lane in the 84 South Shopping Complex brings munchie-destroying subs, a full-service bar and vibes unlike anything else in the 414.

Grand opening festivities kick off May 11, including a party packed with raffles, exclusive Cheba Hut swag and plenty of fun for homies rolling in to celebrate the shop’s arrival.

Located right off I-94 near the corner of 84th Street and Layton Avenue, the new Cheba Hut is ideally situated at the heart of several neighboring communities. Homies from Greenfield, Franklin, Hales Corners, West Allis, New Berlin and Muskego are all invited to the smoke circle.

Behind the new joint are franchisees Heather and RC Huhn, a husband-and-wife duo who came to Cheba Hut from completely different worlds and found exactly what they were looking for. Heather spent years teaching in the Franklin Public Schools system. RC has been an entrepreneur throughout his career, serving as co-owner of Viking Masek Global Technologies. When the pair set out to build something together, they envisioned a concept that combined both of their passions. Cheba Hut checked every box.

“RC and I are both foodies at heart, so when we started looking into business concepts, the combination of great subs and a full bar immediately caught our attention,’ said Heather Huhn. “We made the trip to Madison to try it for ourselves, fell in love with the food and never looked back. Once we spent time with the team at HQ and experienced the authenticity and values behind the brand, it felt like a natural fit for our family to go all in with the brand.”

The Greenfield shop is the Huhns’ third Cheba Hut, and it features one of the brand’s signature custom murals. Colorado-based artist Josh Finley, a Chebaverse mainstay whose work spans the brand’s shops nationwide, created the piece as a tribute to the land itself. Inspired by Greenfield’s roots as a farming community and its current suburban character, the mural features crops and an old tractor rolling toward a groovy hut. It’s equal parts local love letter and visual feast while guests await their tasty subs.

For homies new to the brand, Cheba Hut’s toasted subs and roster of sides, snacks and sweets can satisfy any case of the munchies. Subs come in three sizes – nugs (4-inch), pinners (8-inch) and blunts (12-inch) – on white, wheat or garlic bread, with names inspired by classic cannabis strains. While the sub options are truly endless, some of the most popular include the White Widow (Chicken, Bacon, Ranch), the Kali Mist (Spicy Club) and the Dank (Pizza). The menu also features bottomless Kool-Aid, chips, sweet treats and a full bar built for lingering. So grab your buds, roll up, and stay awhile.

Cheba Hut Greenfield will be open Sunday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to midnight, with extended hours until 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday. For more information, visit ChebaHut.com or follow Cheba Hut on social media for updates.
