Rapidly-growing “Toasted” sub brand opening its first Montana shop in Billings
Billings, MT (Restaurant News Release) Cheba Hut “Toasted” Subs, the counter-culture sandwich shop known for its chill vibes, cottonmouth cures and bold flavors that hit just right, is planting its flag in Big Sky Country with a new restaurant opening Friday, Feb 27th, bringing toasted subs and a relaxed atmosphere with a distinctly local feel to Billings.
Located off Shiloh Road near one of the local MSU campuses, Zoo Montana and the Shiloh Crossing shopping center, the new Cheba Hut offers the perfect place to stop in for a bite. The Billings Cheba Hut marks the brand’s debut in Montana and the seventh location for franchise owner Isaac Montoya and WAHi Brands.
For homies new to Cheba Hut, the menu goes far beyond your standard handheld fare. Cheba Hut serves more than 30 signature toasted subs – available in Nug (4-inch), Pinner (8-inch) and Blunt (12-inch) sizes and inspired by classic cannabis strains, including fan favorites like:
- The White Widow – a go-to loaded with chicken, bacon and ranch, toasted until melty and craveable.
- The Kali Mist – a spicy club-style sub with turkey, bacon and pepper jack for homies who like a little heat.
- The Dank – a pizza-inspired sub stacked with pepperoni, salami, marinara and melted mozzarella.
- The Griefo – a veggie-forward favorite loaded with cream cheese, avocado and fresh produce.
The menu also features classic munchies such as garlic cheese bread, pretzel nuggets and French Onion Soup, plus sweet treats like Krispy Bars and cookies. Of course, the list wouldn’t be complete without a mention of the cottonmouth-curing Kool-Aid selection on tap available in Grape, Fruit Punch or Blue Raspberry Lemonade. Homies can also grab the new collab Secret Stash sub created with Bloom Montana or try the limited edition Cheba Hut collab IPA brewed by local favorite Meadowlark brewery.

On February 27th, starting at 10 a.m., the new joint will host a grand opening celebration, giving locals a chance to turn up, tune in and toast the arrival of Cheba Hut in Montana. Events include a ribbon-cutting, merch gift bags for the first 100 guests, contests, a chance to win a year of Cheba Hut and a $420 cash drop at 4:20 p.m and DJ. An evening drone show will launch from the new Cheba Hut location at 7 PM. The display of flying drones will feature an enmeshment of Billings culture and Cheba Hut for a show you will not want to miss.
The new joint will feature Cheba Hut’s toasted subs alongside a full beer and wine bar with 12 taps, most of which will showcase local Billings breweries, giving guests another reason to pull up and stay awhile. Extended hours and a full patio are designed to serve late-night guests and those looking to enjoy Montana’s warmer months under the open sky.
The space is anchored by a custom mural created by artist Joshua Finley, adding a little extra color to the experience. Inspired by Billings’ identity as the Magic City, the artwork blends huckleberries, railroad history, cowboy and outdoor culture with a nod to Calamity Jane and Old West comic-book-style visuals.
“Opening Cheba Hut’s first Montana location is a big win for our team,” Montoya said. “We wanted this shop to feel relaxed, welcoming and rooted in the community – a place where people can kick back and enjoy great food. Billings has a strong local culture, and we wanted the restaurant to reflect that, from the beer selection to the mural and the way the space brings people together.”
Operating hours are 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.
