First location slated for this summer as the family-owned brand continues to build momentum for expansion
Indianapolis, IN (Restaurant News Release) Sunny Street Café continues its Midwest growth with the signing of a new franchise agreement that will bring its beloved, scratch-made breakfast and lunch concept to Indianapolis for the first time through multi-unit hospitality operator Vijay Patel in summer 2026.
The brand is actively evaluating sites in Indianapolis, first targeting the North and Northwest part of the city, as it looks to introduce Sunny Street’s neighborhood café experience to the area.
Patel brings more than 20 years of experience in restaurants and hospitality. Originally from India, he began his career in the United Kingdom, working his way up from dishwasher and server to manager and part-owner of a high-volume restaurant. Since moving to the U.S. in 2021, he has scaled a portfolio of hotels across Illinois, Indiana, and New York, and has invested in a luxury resort development in California.
“Sunny Street Café stood out because of its unmatched food quality and people-first culture,” Patel said. “After visiting several locations and spending time with the leadership team, it was clear this brand was different. The Indianapolis café will be Patel’s first Sunny Street location, with aspirations to expand across the state. His hospitality background and operational expertise make him a strong partner for the family-owned brand’s continued Midwest expansion.
