Shaver Hall To Open at Historic Fifth Avenue Address on June 26New York, NY  (Restaurant News ReleaseShaver Hall, a new dining and entertainment destination, will officially open its doors on June 26 at 424 Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. Located inside the landmark former Lord & Taylor flagship building – now Amazon’s largest New York City corporate office – the 35,000-square-foot food hall reimagines one of the city’s most iconic addresses as a modern gathering place for food, music, and connection.

Named for Dorothy Shaver, the trailblazing president who helped define Lord & Taylor as a cultural force, Shaver Hall marks the latest milestone in the adaptive reuse of the landmark 1914 building, which Amazon acquired in March 2020.

Shaver Hall was developed by FB Society, the award-winning restaurant incubator and operator behind Nashville’s Assembly Food Hall and Dallas’ Legacy Hall.

“Shaver Hall is an experience that brings together Michelin-starred talent, the nostalgia of a Brooklyn slice, and the social energy of a great cocktail bar under one roof,” said Jack Gibbons, CEO of FB Society. “Amazon had a vision for this corner of Midtown, and we are partners in their commitment to their employees and neighbors. We want Shaver Hall to be a place where everyone feels like it was made for them.”

Leading the lineup of culinary options, each of Shaver Hall’s three full-service restaurants brings a new and distinct dining experience to Midtown Manhattan:

  • Pick & Cheese – Founded by Mathew Carver, Pick & Cheese is a London-born concept opening its first U.S. location at Shaver Hall. Guests can pull up a stool at a 200-foot cheese conveyor belt, the brand’s largest yet, and enjoy a carousel of plates of charcuterie and locally sourced condiments. All cheeses will be sourced from small-producer cheesemakers across the Northeast.
  • Tallow Steakhouse – A polished yet approachable modern steakhouse from FB Society. Tallow reimagines the classic New York dining experience with a prix fixe menu featuring master-butchered USDA Prime cuts and hand cut tallow fries. The bar will specialize in ice cold Dirty Martinis, Manhattans and Old Fashioneds.
  • Mako – Helmed by Chef BK Park, Mako at Shaver Hall will be the first extension of this Michelin Star favorite in Chicago’s West Loop. The intimate 12-seat experience will feature a rotating seasonal menu rooted in precision and technique, with highlights including buttery toro, braised abalone, and seafood consommé.

For more casual fare, Shaver Hall will offer a thoughtfully curated collection of eateries from across the city. Every dining concept has no more than five brick-and-mortar storefronts, bringing together beloved local institutions, rising culinary talent and acclaimed chefs under one roof.

  • F&F Pizzeria – Brooklyn-style pizza from Frank Castronovo and Frank Falcinelli of Frankies 457 Spuntino.
  • Biddrina Gelato – From the team behind Locanda Vini e Olii, Camillo & Bar Camillo restaurants, Biddrina Gelato offers Italian-style small-batch gelato with seasonal flavors, opening its first brick- and-mortar location inside Shaver Hall.
  • Butter Chicken Social – Modern Indian cuisine from Chef Sujan Sukar, the chef and owner behind Chicago’s Michelin-starred Indienne.
  • Tompkins Square Bagels – The first Midtown location for these hand-rolled bagels and signature spreads from the East Village favorite.
  • Pastasole – Known for its affordable and fresh handmade pasta inspired by regional Italian traditions, Pastasole is opening its third NYC location at Shaver Hall.
  • Chick Chick – An Upper West Side staple, Chick Chick offers Korean-inspired fried chicken from Bib Gourmand Chef Jun Park.
  • Taqueria Al Pastor – From Netflix’s Taco Chronicles, authentic Mexico City–style street tacos anchored by heritage corn tortillas and expertly carved trompo pork.
  • Zazu – Inspired by Mediterranean street food culture, with quality halal ingredients, bold spices and shareable plates.
  • Tonchinette – The casual offshoot of Bib Gourmand ramen shop Tonchin, Tonchinette brings Tokyo-style ramen and deep broths, with new menu items created exclusively for Shaver Hall.
  • Norihana – Rotating chef-driven hand roll bar by Michelin-starred Chef BK Guests can stop in for a quick lunch at the counter or settle in for a longer meal. Japanese beers, sake, and cocktails round out the menu.
  • Tallow Butcher Shop – A mouthwatering lineup of hand-cut tallow fries alongside premium classics including a half pound dry-aged burger, a steak sandwich on house-baked focaccia, and a keto-friendly steak salad.

In addition to its culinary offerings, Shaver Hall will feature a dedicated stage for entertainment Wednesday through Sunday, with a rotating lineup of local musicians, DJs, sports watch parties and cultural programming that pays homage to the building’s deep connection to fashion, art and New York culture.

Amazon transformed the 13-story structure into its largest New York City corporate office while preserving the building’s architectural heritage and dedicating the street-level space to public retail use. The vision from the outset was to create an “18-hour district” that brings employees, neighbors, and local businesses together.

Rounding out the experience, a New York-style bodega designed for both convenience and discovery, will offer grab-and-go breakfast and lunch options, coffee, snacks, pantry staples, beer and wine, and specialty products. The space will also feature a self-pour drink wall, giving guests an interactive way to explore rotating beers, wines, cocktails, and other beverages throughout the day and into the evening.

“Amazon has invested more than $45 billion in New York City since 2010, and this building represents our commitment to Midtown’s revitalization, not just as office space, but as a place

that serves the neighborhood,” said Sean Lee, Amazon’s vice president of Global Real Estate and Facilities. “FB Society has been our partner in that vision, and Shaver Hall is exactly the kind of destination that makes our urban investments work for our employees and for the community around them.”

Located on the street-level of Amazon’s NYC corporate hub at 424 Fifth Avenue, Shaver Hall will officially open to the public at 3 p.m. on June 26. The hall will be open daily from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Hours for individual eateries, bars, and full-service restaurants may vary.
