Shoney's Set to Celebrate Grand Opening of Newly Designed Restaurant in MorgantownMorgantown, WV  (Restaurant News Release)  In a city known for its football and a state lovingly referred to as “Almost Heaven,” West Virginia-born Shoney’s is ready to score big with a new restaurant in Morgantown and is giving guests its own slice of heaven.

At its grand opening event this Wednesday, June 25, from 5-8 pm at its new restaurant at 9 Sterling Drive, Shoney’s will offer all guests FREE signature Hot Fudge Cake, while supplies last. Shoney’s will also be giving away a $100 gift certificate to one lucky guest. Ribbon-cutting is set for 6 pm.

Former West Virginia University Head Coach (1980-2000) and College Football Hall of Fame Inductee Don Nehlen will be on hand to sign autographs for the entire grand opening.

The Touchdown City location, which created 70 new local jobs, will also be the state’s first Shoney’s serving beer and wine. The 5000-square foot restaurant seats 144 guests and offers free Wi-Fi and multiple big-screen televisions, perfect for following and watching the West Virginia University Mountaineers.

The iconic All-American restaurant brand, with humble roots in the West Virginia, including being founded by Alex Schoenbaum in Charleston, West Virginia in 1947, brings all-time favorites to the newly designed restaurant, including delicious, freshly-prepared food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The restaurant is open Sunday – Thursday from 7 am – 10 pm and Friday & Saturday from 7 am – 11 pm.
